Letterpress Printing & Woodtype Posters

Giant Squid Creative officially started in 2006 and was called Giant Squid Press. Kenny had just started letterpress printing and needed a “press name” for the work he was putting out at the time, wood type concert posters and vinyl jacket designs for the likes of the Gaslight Anthem, Against Me!, Frank Turner, the Bouncing Souls etc. etc.

Soon he didn’t have time for punk rock posters and giant squid press had a thriving business designing and printing custom wedding invitations and cocktail bar menus.

“Wait...You designed this too? This is spectacular...Really great.
I thought you were just a printer...”

...Sean Muldoon, of the bar at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, exclaimed as we sat at 9th Street Espresso. Sean and Jack McGarry were about to open the Dead Rabbit and we were talking about how Giant Squid could help them.

We gave them some logo and branding advice, but did not work on the design of their preeminent menus (that would be our friends at Drinksology in Northern Ireland).  We did have the honor of printing all the photo “snapshots” in their taproom and many of the posters you see in the hallway going up to the parlour.
