In August 2015 we walked into a concrete shell of a storefront in Fortitude Valley Brisbane and was asked, "So, What do we do?". We proceeded to come up with the branding, tagline, neon signage and interior design. We looked to the history of the building as Bubbles Bathhouse, a notorious brothel and illegal casino and formed the branding and design around it. We created, literally from the ground up one of the coolest most popular venues Brisbane has, generating millions of dollars in sales on the strength of our branding, strategy interior design and concept.
He brought in a custom hand letterer to create the script for the logotype, made a custom neon sign “apologising we are no longer a brothel” and filled the walls with framed photos and custom made oil-paintings of all the disgraced figures at the heart of the Fitzgerald Inquiry, like Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, Vic Conte and Gerry Bellino.
(6 months later, When we came up with the branding for a new ice cream shop in the lane way behind Les Bubbles, we’d carry on the QLD historical references, naming the ice cream shop “Mister Fitz’s”)
